South African DJ Awards have been moved to 2018 the organisation stated on their social media accounts. SA DJ Awards were one of the most anticipated ceremonies for 2017. Their reasons to postpone make sense, at-least to the Funsion team.
EThekwini’s Moses Mabhida stadium was the chosen venue to host these awards on 23 December 2017. O-DJ abadumile (celebrity DJ’s) like DJ Kent, DJ Zinhle, Roger Goode, DJ Cndo and Distruction Boyz were nominated. Unfortunately some nominees were not going to make it on the ceremony’s date.
Due to some nominees unavailability, SA DJ Awards committee decided to postpone to next year (2018). They haven’t stated the new date, yet.
For those who have bought tickets, ningakhali (don’t mourn), you will be refunded by TocketPro.
Here is their full statement:
“South African DJ Awards are an initiative to annually celebrate, recognize and reward South African DJs, as there is no such platform in our country. The vision is to have full capacity of nominees and their fans in one space in celebration of our music industry and their artistry. It is also an important element that when each category winner is announced that they are physically present to accept and acknowledge the award, as these awards are solely founded on the basis of recognizing and rewarding DJs of our country.
Due to the final RSVP’s received from SA DJ Awards nominees, it is of great regret to announce that the 1st Annual South African DJ Awards will be postponed to 2018 (date to be confirmed). This decision has been a result of low RSVP’s by our nominees, due to the fact that its the festive season and majority of them either have commitments or are booked all around South Africa or even abroad. How can such a prestigious event be hosted at the absence of the awardees. This is not the purpose and objective of any award ceremony.
Please note all tickets sold thus far will be rightfully refunded to all purchasers, by Ticket Pro. No funds are to be allocated to SA DJ Awards.
Voting lines for the nominees are closed today, and all leading votes will still remain as the deciding factor of winners in each category. With the awards being postponed to 2018, no voting lines will be opened for the new proposed date. All winners are to be determined on the current existing votes, as fair competition.
We hope with working together with all nominees that the date to be proposed will be a date where all our nominees will be present to embrace their fans and celebrate their artistry as pioneers of South Africa.
Great apology to all, as we know that many people were excited and recipient for the 1st Annual SA DJ Awards.”
